Second module of a two-day psychosocial seminar for teachers in the Karbala Region 06.01.2009 The second module of the two-day psychosocial seminar was held from 19-20 December 2008 at the AlRyhad kindergarten. The seminar was attended by 65 teachers from 36 schools in the Karbala Region (AlHindia Province). As in the previous module, the seminar was attended also by the Directors of the Babil and Karbala Directorate for Education. Ad the end of the seminar, the Director General of the Directorate for Education thanked the teachers and the entire team who had carried out the project for their significant work and contribution. He promised the teachers his full support in their work and the attainment of project objectives.
Four-day seminar for primary health workers 05.01.2009 In AlNajafu (Iraq), the Foundation “TOGETHER” organised, in cooperation with the Local Network for the Psychosocial Assistance to Children, a four-day seminar (26-29 December 2008) for 30 primary health workers from the provinces of Babil, Karbala and AlNajfa. The seminar was conducted by six local trainers (psychiatrists, psychologists, a professor of sociology and a pediatrician). The seminar was attended also by the Director General and Senior Advisers of the AlNajaf Health Directorate; the event received support from the Iraqi Minister for Health, Dr. Salih AlHasnawi.
The Foundation »TOGETHER« - Regional Centre for the Psychosocial Well-being of Children organised a visit of the Iraqi mental health experts to Slovenia between 9 and 13 November 2008 12.12.2008 The guests were representatives of partner organisations of the Foundation “TOGETHER” in Iraq who actively implement the programme on “Psychosocial Help to Children, Families and Teachers in Iraq”, namely:
• Osamah Hameed Hassan Hassan (psychologist from Baghdad)
• Hasan Alwan Hussein Baiee (physician from Babil)
• Abdulameer Rebat Abed Al-Owaidi (primary school headmaster from Babil)
During their stay in Ljubljana, the Iraqi quests visited some relevant organisations and offices which models of work could be useful for their further work and development of modern approaches to providing psychosocial protection for children in Iraq. They conducted a public lecture on “Providing Psychosocial Support to the Children, Families and Teachers in Iraq”, held in the Grand Council Chamber of the Ljubljana City Hall on Tuesday, 11 November 2008 at 16.30.
