On Wednesday, January 21, the Brdo Congress Centre hosted the first conference and public debate on the participation of the Republic of Slovenia in international operations and missions.

Four-day training for ten new local trainers from Karbala and AlNajafa

In AlNajafu (Iraq), a four-day training was organised, in cooperation with the Iraqi partners, from 26-29 December 2008 for ten new local trainers from the areas of Karbala and AlNajaf. The seminar was organised by the Foundation “TOGETHER” and conducted by five mental health experts, who had been involved and participated within the programme in previous years. Within the framework of training, the participants were acquainted with their future role in the project implementation, i.e. conduct of psychosocial seminars for teachers and other target groups, participation in and conduct of psychosocial activities in schools, possibility of participation in training carried out by international experts outside Iraq, familiarization with the need of cooperation in mental health research and other psychosocial issues. The seminar was attended and supported also by the Director General of the AlNajaf Directorate of Education.

First module of a two-day psychosocial seminar for teachers in the Karbala Region

From 5-6 December 2008, the 1st module of a two-day psychosocial seminar was organised at the AlHindia secondary school in Iraq. The seminar was attended by 65 teachers from 36 schools in the Karbala Region (AlHindia Province). During the preparatory phase, meetings were held with the Director General of the Karbala Directorate for Education. It was agreed to conduct the seminars for teachers from the AlHindia Province, which represents the largest part of Karbal, comprising 50% of the total population in Karbala. Due to the exceptional interest of teachers and the great need for psychosocial assistance in Karbala, the number of teachers involved was increased from the originally planned 50 to 65. The seminar was organised by the Foundation “TOGETHER in cooperation with the Local Network for the Psychosocial Assistance to Children: The module was conducted by ten local Iraqi experts in the field of mental health who had been trained and worked within the programme in the previous years. In addition to 65 teachers and school workers, the seminar was attended also by the Director General of the Babil Directorate for Education, the Director General of the Karbala Directorate for Education and the Director of the AlHindia Education Division.
