Funding

The Center seeks funds from donors for its activities and the implementation of its programmes. Donors are countries, governmental and non-governmental organisations, private funds as well as Slovene and foreign enterprises that are, or would like to be, present in South Eastern Europe.

The process of finding donors

The Center seeks to provide funding for projects in accord with the requirements of the region. Donations can be general, not intended for a specific programme or project, enabling the Center to decide how best to allocate funds. However, donors can also choose the specific projects they want to finance from a large pool of programmes endorsed by the Center. Donors are familiarised with the content and implications of specific projects, with an emphasis on the donor's role, influence, possibilities and obligations. Arrangements are made with the donor on the manner and period of their participation, as well as concerning what special interests the donor would like to pursue. In accord with such, the obligations of the Center in carrying out the project should be formulated and presented.

The following forms of donations are foreseen:

• Financial (donors can donate funds for any element or stage of a project in the region or to support the basic operating costs of the Center);
• The assistance and participation of qualified experts and other staff (secondment, consulting, training);
• Material for the infrastructure and operation of the Center (hardware, software, training of co-ordinators in the network centers, e.g. database, office equipment, publishing skills, etc.);
• Endeavours on behalf of the Center (e.g. promoting, lobbying).

The Center will try to raise funds for certain projects through calls for tenders as well.

Continuity

The Center will strive to acquire the long-term support of donors through a high cost-benefit ratio. Furthermore, in order to ensure the transparency of its activities, the Center will publish regular reports and analyses with the assistance of independent experts. We fully understand that maximizing efficiency and transparency are of utmost importance for establishing long-term funding.
