SPECIAL & EVENT VENUES

More than 100 castles and manors across Slovenia bear witness to the distant past, and a number of them have been adapted to serve as meeting and event venues. The most prominent of these are the Otočec Castle Hotel on an island in the Krka river, and the Mokrice Castle Hotel, which is the only castle in Slovenia to have preserved a working drawbridge. The latter also boasts an 18-hole golf course and castle stables.

The Vila Bled is a symbol of the nearer past, as it is a former residence of the Yugoslav President Tito. Nonetheless, its rich history makes it a popular retreat and a fine venue for smaller business functions.

In Slovenia, no matter where you decide to hold your event, a unique venue for your social gathering or cultural event is never far away.

In Ljubljana you may choose from the halls provided in its hilltop castle, various museums, including the City, National and Railway Museums, the National Gallery, as well as the courtyard of the Križanke Theatre, a former monastery, and the Post Office building among others.

Unusual venues on the Slovenian coast include the Tartini Theatre in Piran, which may be used for performances and concerts, as well as for presentations, receptions or other events, and the Renaissance cloister of the Minorite monastery, also in Piran, which is a popular setting for chamber performances. The stunning Postojna Caves, between Ljubljana and the coast, are ideal for those seeking the magic of a unique event deep underground.

In Bled, your choice may be the imposing medieval clifftop castle. Alternatively, you might prefer the charming island church or its courtyard on top of the well-known 100-step staircase.

Slovenia was once a country of over 1,000 castles, and thus its rich heritage has left a legacy of hugely diverse locations for special events. Modern Slovenia offers a range of unique occasions throughout the year arising from its well-preserved folk heritage, distinct in each of its regions, towns and remote villages.
