MEETINGS IN HEALTH RESORTS

Slovenia has fifteen natural health resorts, many of which also boast modern conference facilities in a relaxing ambience. The various modern wellness centres, along with medical and preventative programmes, also focus on general physical and psychical wellbeing. Choosing a health resort as your conference venue will undoubtedly mean a fine blend of the beneficial effects of thermal water and a mild climate, a host of outdoor activities, an encounter with their rich historical heritage and customs and the hospitality of the local inhabitants.

The Rogaška Slatina Health Resort has a history stretching back more than 400 years, originating with the discovery of the beneficial effects of its mineral water, which has the richest magnesium content in Europe. This mineral water was very popular in Vienna at the beginning of the 18th century, and by the mid-19th century Rogaška had become a well-known and cosmopolitan spa, frequented by European high society. Its more illustrious visitors included the Habsburg ruler Franz Josef, the French Bonapartes and King Karadjordjevič of Serbia. Nowadays, this attractive health resort combines its old patina with the spirit of modern times, offering medical, preventative and wellness programmes. To complement your stay, year-round cultural performances, numerous activities including tennis, cycling, riding, hiking, fishing, golf and skiing, as well as attractive excursions to explore the surrounding sights are on offer. Rogaška is also famous for its excellent crystal and has a casino.

In Rogaška Slatina, the Grand Hotel Sava provides meeting space for 110 delegates, and also manages the Cultural Centre, which can accommodate a maximum of 400.

The Radenci Health Resort in north-western Slovenia also has a longstanding tradition, as springs of mineral water were discovered here as early as 1833. The town is famous for its Radenska "Three Hearts" mineral water which was popular with the imperial court in Vienna and the papal court in Rome. The mineral water is now well known throughout Slovenia and neighbouring countries. The medical and preventative treatments performed at Radenci combine mineral water, thermal baths, therapeutic mud and the mild climate.

Radenci is also a good starting point for excursions to the region of Prekmurje, whose most distinctive features are flat plains, winegrowing hills and white storks. Points of interest include the wine and champagne cellars at Gornja Radgona, several wine routes with wine tasting and local cuisine, a visit to a local pottery workshop or the famous water mill on the Mura river.

The Terme Radenci Health Resort comprises four hotels with conference facilities for up to 250, as well as thermal pools, medical and preventative treatments, as well as wellness programmes.

Čatež, in the south of the country, is Slovenia's largest spa centre, whose hot springs were first discovered at the end of the 18th century. The Terme Čatež Health Resort boasts ten outdoor pools totalling more than 10,000 sq. m of water, and the Winter Thermal Riviera with 1,200 sq. m of pools. In addition to offering a number of preventative and curative programmes, the Čatež Health Resort also has a wide range of wellness programmes, a sauna park and numerous sports and recreation facilities. Excursions in the surrounding area include the treasures of the Dolenjska region, which is characterised by the winding Krka river with its many castles and monasteries, as well as the nearby wine routes. The Terme Čatež comprises three hotels in Čatež, a congress centre for up to 900, as well as the Mokrice Castle hotel with its popular 18-hole golf course. The company also manages two hotels in Koper on the Slovenian coast.
