  Venue

The Congress will be held at the Cankarjev dom, Congress and Cultural Centre, located in the very centre of Ljubljana, opposite the Slovenian Parliament, within walking distance of all major hotels, shops, restaurants and main sights of the city. Cankarjev dom is a multi-purpose centre with some 36,000 sq. m of event space. It can accommodate up to 5,000 visitors altogether in auditoriums providing seats for as few as 20 and up to 1,600 visitors. It also offers 3,800 sq. m of exhibition space, and has banquet facilities for 1,200 guests. Annually, the Centre hosts nearly 250 national and international congresses and convention-related events.

Official Language
The official language of the Congress is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

Registration and Information Desk
The Registration Desk for the Congress, located in the Grand Reception Hall of Cankarjev dom, Cultural and Congress Centre, Presernova 10, Ljubljana, will be open:

Congress Identification Badge
A Congress identification badge will be included in the Congress material provided on Registration. There will be no admittance to the Scientific Sessions without the Congress badge and cards for Slide Seminars. Invitations for Social Events will be collected on entry. The Congress identification badges will be also most helpful in contacts with other participants.

Attendance Certificate
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to all registered participants.


CME Credit Points
We are in the process of applying for CME credit points, 1 credit point per hour to be given under authority of the UEMS and Royal College of Pathologists.

Letter of Invitation
A Letter of Invitation to attend the Congress will be sent on individual request. It does not place any obligation on the Organising Committee to cover Fees or provide funds for travelling and living expenses.

Liability and Insurance
All participants are reminded that neither the Organising Committee nor the technical organiser Cankarjev dom, Cultural and Congress Centre are liable for any losses, accidents or damage to persons or private property. Participants and accompanying persons are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance.

Coffee Breaks
During session breaks, refreshments will be served free of charge to participants wearing name badges.

Lunches
Lunch is not included in the Registration Fee. There are several self-service and other restaurants with reasonable prices close to the Congress Centre.

Visa Requirements
In most cases, a valid passport is sufficient to enter Slovenia. Participants are advised to check visa requirements at the nearest Slovenian Embassy or Consulate. Information on visas and addresses of the Slovenian embassies is obtainable on the web site of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: http://www.gov.si/mzz.

Money Change
The Slovenian legal tender is SIT (Slovenian tolar). 1 EUR is approximately equivalent to 230 SIT. Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks, exchange offices, travel agencies, hotels, airports and railway stations. A bank, Nova Ljubljanska Banka, is located very close to the Congress Centre, Trg revolucije 2.

Automatic Cash Dispensers
Automatic cash dispensers, which enable cash withdrawal by credit card, are situated at main banks in Ljubljana and also at Ljubljana Airport (Brnik). The nearest cash dispenser to the Congress Centre is at the main entrance to the Maximarket department store, which is located 50 metres from the Congress Centre. Cash may be withdrawn with the following credit cards: Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard and American Express.

Credit Cards
All major credit cards, such as American Express, Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, Diners, are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops.

Electricity
Electricity in Slovenia is 220V, 50Hz.


Drinking Water
Tap water is safe to drink in Slovenia.

Time
European summer time, one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Climate and Dress
Ljubljana has a central European climate. The weather is generally pleasant in September, with an average day temperature of 17°C (62 F). However, it can be changeable and participants are advised to bring a raincoat or umbrella and warmer dress for the evenings. No formal dress will be required at any Congress Event.

Public Transportation
Ljubljana has a good bus transportation system payable with travel tokens (available at a reduced price in post offices and at the Congress Registration Desk) or cash. A single rate fare applies, regardless of the distance travelled.

Taxis
A taxi service is available day and night and may be ordered by dialling: 9700, 9701, 9702 or 9705.

Shopping
Many antique shops, sales galleries, arcades and the open-air market create the spirit of the Old Town. Normal shopping hours during the week are 09.00 to 19.00, on Saturdays most shops close at 13.00. Wednesdays and Saturdays are the best days to visit Ljubljana Market, which is not only a market, but also a meeting point of Ljubljana inhabitants, especially on Saturdays. On Sundays, there is a flea market held on the banks of the Ljubljanica river.
