Welcome Greeting

Dear colleagues: It is our great pleasure and honour as the organizers of the 3rd CENS Meeting that so many neurosurgeons – members of the Society as well as non-members from other countries – have decided to participate at this important neurosurgical event.

In particular, we would like to thank all the invited speakers who were promptly ready to join us at the 3rd CENS Meeting, and to share with us their extremely valuable professional experiences. Due to the presence and very active participation of invited speakers, this Meeting will be exceptional in the following aspects: 1. covering the cutting edge frontiers in neurosurgery; 2. offering a large amount of practical information from most competent experts in individual fields of neurosurgery; and 3. covering a suitably broad variety of topics and offering new ideas for practical use in neurosurgical daily acitivities.

The scientific program features the latest technological innovations and scientific advances from the majority of areas of neurosurgery. The vast experience and knowledge in the field will be conveyed in the clearest way to younger colleagues in order to stimulate their eagerness to re-examine surgical procedures, and to improve the modalities of surgical treatment of neurological diseases and injuries.

At this Meeting, there will be the opportunity to compare the contemporary neurosurgical achievements in comparison with new technologies and the potentials of the neurosurgical profession to incorporate new advancements in the field without losing the identity of the profession.

Not only the number of abstracts sent to the organizers, but even more the quality of the abstracts reflect the professional level of the meeting. The organizers had a difficult task to choose among the abstracts those which should be selected for Oral Presentation at the Meeting, and which to be placed at the Poster Session. According to the organizers’ opinion, most of the abstracts are of such a high quality that they deserve to be orally presented.

Undeniably, very memorable activities of the CENS Meeting also include socializing with friends and colleagues. The social program offers a number of attractive events both in Ljubljana and in other places of the country.

During your stay, we encourage you to explore the city of Ljubljana, where you will discover interesting and rich museums and other cultural monuments, and an unique blend of superior hospitality from our people, of which we are very proud. During the time of the 3rd CENS Meeting from 1st through 4th of September, 2004, we will try our best to accommodate you in such a way that you may forget you were not at home.
